Taiwan 2024 - New Taipei Butterfly Train, Praying Mantis

One of the most fascinating creatures on earth is the praying mantis.  DeQuan was determined to find some, so we hunted for them everywhere we went, to no avail.  Finally, after a little research, we found out that it was too early in the year to see the grownups, so on the Butterfly Trail we scrutinized the vegetation for smaller hatchlings.  And lo and behold, they were everywhere!  The pic above is one we were able to isolate; the one below gives an idea about what size they were:
