Dallas Visit with Allison - Cathedral Spire with Airliner

Ever on the lookout for good airplane shots, had to think fast to capture this guy heading into Love Field.  Was going to clone the bird out, but figured there's nothing wrong with a little competition...

Dallas Visit with Allison - Moon Shot with Cathedral Spire

Zeroing in on the cathedral spire, was fortunate to capture this moon shot close to the cross.

Dallas Visit with Allison - The Old With The New

Another architecture/cityscape-type photo.  Juxtaposing the old with the new, this one is reminiscent of a post published way back in 2008.

Speaking of "way back", yesterday in Houston the outside temperature at our house reached an incredible 110 degrees, shattering the all-time record.  Incredible!  I went outside and stood in the shade just to see what it feels like.  Too much for the dog, though - Koko ran around for just a few minutes, then went inside and threw up on the wife's favorite rug.

Dallas Visit with Allison - Employer Direct Building

Our daughter is very good about planning things for us to do whenever we go for a visit.  On this trip we drove to a museum downtown when I was able to sneak in a few architecture-type shots such as this one.

Dipping My Toe Back In

Well, I'm retired now (as of yesterday afternoon at 5:00), and it's time to get back into this.  Must flex those creative muscles.  Have about a dozen images from a recent visit to our daughter's place in Dallas, so will begin with what you see above, a decorative mirror in the apartment.

Would like to get a bit more writing done.  Thought about creating a "memory-a day" type thing, chronicling random memories spanning a rich, varied - and hopefully long - life, sprinkled in with treatises on topics such as money, race, sexuality, religion, culture, and the like.  Some of these things will end up here in the blog and others will remain archived for the kids to mine at a later time.

Next we'll explore some Dallas cityscapes along with a visit to a museum downtown.  Hope you enjoy these offerings as I launch into this new chapter in life...
