I hesitated to post this picture because technically it's a little deficient, but was so struck with the subject decided to go ahead. We were at the very end of our trek when this bald eagle swooped over and landed on top of a tree, perfectly framed in the center among the other trees in the forest...such a rare opportunity that I uncovered the Bigger Cahoona in spite of the heavy rain.
The wispy stuff that seems to be flowing from the branches was, I think, a moss of some sort. Whatever it was it's not good for trees, as those most heavily covered were usually dead, as we saw in many parts of Southeast Alaska.
