Alaska Cruise - Ketchikan Approach

There were some surprises in store when we got to our first stop of the cruise, not least of which that it doesn't really get very cold here.  Also, it is by definition a rain forest, receiving rain for 310 days out of the year, evidence of which you'll see in the next post.

But one of my favorite aspects of this and other small towns that we visited is the colors - the houses and buildings in each are very colorfully and seemingly freshly-painted.  That plus the small aircraft activity made this town a bonanza for this photographer; many posts will feature seaplanes taking off, in flight, and landing on the water.
