Denver 2017 - Capitol, Senate Doorway Seen from Below

There is something majestic about the word "Senate" that lends itself and the institution to high circumstance and dignity.  Turns out the word comes from the ancient Romans and, according to Wikipedia, literally means "Assembly of Elders"; it was a given that the oldsters of a population are wiser and able to make decisions that are just, fair, and for the common good.  Thus, it is no surprise that the doorway leading to this august body is adorned as you see it here.
