The family went to Baltimore and other places for vacation this past July. I was afraid of bringing the new camera, so all of the next few dozen shots were taken with the Fujifilm s7000.
Why go to Baltimore? Because that's where we flew on the way to Washington, D.C. where my wife had a meeting, so did some exploring and discovered a fascinating city. Naturally, the aquarium was a primary attraction. This was taken while we were waiting to get in, from the pedestrian bridge that crosses the harbor.

I was sitting in the car during a meeting break one day in Galveston, and took this shot of a palm tree against the glass of one of the pyramids at Moody Gardens. It's way cropped in, but enough detail was preserved to include here...

I call this one "Watermelon Spires". It was taken at one of our Chinese get-togethers.
These get-togethers are a frequent and positive influence on the kids (really all of us)...
This was taken with the trusty ole' 3800...the firmware was almost perfect on that model. It was getting to be evening, and the gathering darkness kept the shutter open just long enough for this shot.
I have always loved Chinese writing (the traditional kind)...it is the most beautiful in the world. One time I saw a Star Trek episode in which a pictograph language flashed across a monitor on the Enterprise. The characters were dense and complex, but I thought, Why didn't they just use Chinese?
